
About Valley of Fire

If you’ve seen pictures of the southwestern United States, chances are you’ve seen pictures from Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. The bright red Aztec Sandstone makes Valley of Fire home to some of the most iconic photo spots in the region, making it a must-see destination for many photographers, adventurers, and national park travelers.
Valley of Fire offers something for everyone, including accessible hiking trails, historic petroglyphs, exotic animals, petrified trees, and a full visitor center exhibition!
Does it cost money?
Yes, there is a small fee to enter the park with additional fees for camping. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset (24 hours for campers) 365 days a year.
Daily Entrance = $10 per vehicle ($15 for non-NV residents)
Camping = $20/night ($25/night for non-NV residents) + $10 for a site with hook-ups.
Bikes = $2 per bike
What is the weather like?
If you are visiting Valley of Fire from Vegas or anywhere else in the southwest, you’ll find the weather is very similar. The temperatures in Valley of Fire vary depending on the season. In Summer, highs are regularly in the 100s with lows in the 70s. In Winter, highs are in the mid-50s with lows in the 30s. Spring and Fall are great times to visit, with mild temperatures in the 60s and 70s.
If you are coming in the warmer months, plan to visit early in the morning or in the evening to avoid the heat of the day. There is essentially NO SHADE in the park and it is easy to become dehydrated and overheated in the extreme temperatures.

Getting to Valley of Fire
Only 55 miles outside of Las Vegas, getting to Valley of Fire from Vegas is an easy addition to most itineraries!

- Las Vegas – 1 hour
- Death Valley National Park – 3 hours
- Zion National Park – 3 hours
- Grand Canyon National Park – 4.5 hours
- Phoenix – 5 hours
The road in and out of the park is relatively remote, so be sure to fill up on gas before making the drive.

What to do in Valley of Fire – Best Hikes & Photo Spots to See in 1 Day!
- The Fire Wave – 1.8 mile moderate loop.
- White Domes Trail – 1.1 mile easy loop with slot canyons and remains of any old movie set.
- Drive the Fire Canyon Road – Beautiful views and overlook!
- Atlatl Rock & Arch Rock – See the petroglyphs featuring the atlatl (historic tool like a bow and arrow). Also, be sure to get some pictures of the Arch Rock!
- Elephant Rock – 1.25 mile loop. The Elephant Rock formation is only 0.2 miles from the trailhead!
- Rainbow Vista – 1 miles out-and-back trail over sand. Photo tip: right before the pull out for the Rainbow Vista parking lot, pull off to the side and climb up the rock structure to get this view!
