My mini Porto travel guide šŸ‡µšŸ‡¹ where (not) to stay, My mini Porto travel guide šŸ‡µšŸ‡¹ where (not) to stay, eat, drink + what to do šŸ“Œ SAVE this for your Porto trip Porto was stop 4 on our Portugal trip ā€” colorful tiled buildings, incredible food, port wine + river views, all packed into a city thatā€™s easy to explore in a short trip. We only had one full day, so I did a lotttt of research beforehand. Hereā€™s everything that made my list ā†“ WHERE (NOT) TO STAY Torel Avantgarde ā€” you know I keep it honest around hereā€¦ this one did NOT live up to expectations. Without getting into all the details, the service + rooms were seriously lacking. COFFEE + BREAKFAST Noshi Coffee Do Norte CafĆ© by Hungry Biker NOLA KITCHEN CafĆ© Guarany WHERE TO EAT ELEMENTO tascƶ Solar Moinho de Vento Oficina DOP Adega SĆ£o Nicolau Ɠbica Le Monument The Orangerie Intrigo Cervejaria Ferradura The Yeatman Gastronomic Restaurant Pedro Lemos PORT WINE + DRINKS Grahamā€™s Port Lodge or Fonseca ā€” cross the river to Gaia for a port tasting + views Capela Incomum ā€” wine bar in a former chapel Prova ā€” Portuguese wine bar BOSCO Porto ā€” the BEST views + vibes THINGS TO DO SĆ£o Bento Station ā€” iconic blue + white tiles Torre dos ClĆ©rigos ā€” climb for city views LuĆ­s I Bridge ā€” walk across for one of the best views Ribeira ā€” wander the colorful riverfront Foz do Douro ā€” where the Douro meets the Atlantic Imperial McDonaldā€™s ā€” LOL yes, we checked out what might be the worldā€™s fanciest McDonaldā€™s DOURO VALLEY šŸ· We stayed at Six Senses Douro Valley and Iā€™d 100% pair Porto with a few nights in wine country. Porto is doable in 1ā€“2 days, but Iā€™d give yourself 2 full days to enjoy the restaurants, port lodges + neighborhoods without rushing. The perfect 3-day Lagos, Portugal itinerary šŸ‡µšŸ‡¹ S The perfect 3-day Lagos, Portugal itinerary šŸ‡µšŸ‡¹ Save this for your Algarve trip because Lagos is a stop you need to add to your itinerary! Honestly, I was a little skeptical about how much I would like this place based on some mixed opinions online, but it totally exceeded my expectations! The dramatic cliffs, hidden beaches, ridiculously blue water, and some very good rooftop drinks were šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼ Hereā€™s exactly how Iā€™d spend 3 days in Lagos: DAY 1 ā€” Sagres + Old Town ā†’ Drive to Lagos via Sagres ā†’ Explore Lagos Old Town ā†’ Walk the waterfront ā†’ Dinner + rooftop drinks in town DAY 2 ā€” Algarve by boat ā†’ Slow breakfast at the hotel ā†’ Full-day private boat charter along the Algarve coast ā†’ Stop in Ferragudo for lunch ā†’ Dinner back in Lagos DAY 3 ā€” Beaches + the best of Lagos ā†’ Hike the coastal trail to Ponta da Piedade ā†’ Lunch + drinks at Lucaā€™s Rooftop ā†’ Beach hop along the Algarve coast ā†’ Sunset drinks at Mar dā€™EstĆ³rias Rooftop ā†’ Dinner at Taberna da MĆ³ ā†’ Gelato at Gelateria Pino My biggest Lagos travel tip: donā€™t treat it like a place where you just sit on the beach for three days. The coastline is the main event and seeing it from both the cliffs and the water is what makes it so special! This was part of our bigger Portugal road trip through Porto, the Douro Valley, Lisbon, Comporta + the Algarve, and Iā€™m putting our entire Portugal itinerary togetherā€¦ where we stayed, ate, drank, what Iā€™d book again, and exactly how we structured the route. Comporta might be one of Portugalā€™s best-kept secr Comporta might be one of Portugalā€™s best-kept secrets and it was easily one of my favorite stops from this trip!! If youā€™re planning a Portugal itinerary and want somewhere that feels elevated, beachy, relaxed and a little less obvious than Lisbon or the Algarve, save this mini Comporta travel guide šŸ“Œ Stay: Sublime Comporta - @sublimecomporta ā€Ø Beach: Sublime Comporta Beach Club Salā€Ø Food: Almaā€ØMesa Cavalariqaā€ØBeefbar ā€ØDo: Wander the shops in Comporta town, spend an afternoon at the beach, and leave plenty of time to actually enjoy your hotel A few things Iā€™d know before visiting Comporta: definitely rent a car because everything is more spread out than it looks, choose your hotel carefully for the same reason, and make beach club reservations ahead of time. I think 2ā€“3 nights is the sweet spot, especially if youā€™re doing a bigger Portugal road trip. I totally understand why people call it the ā€œHamptons of Portugal,ā€ but it felt more relaxed, wellness-y and low-key than I expectedā€¦ while still having the great hotels, restaurants, beach clubs and shopping I want on vacation. I loveeeee when a hotel just gets it šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼ Sublime Co I loveeeee when a hotel just gets it šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼ Sublime Comporta is one of those places where everythingā€¦ and I mean everythingā€¦ was perfection! The design alone would have sold me. The way they laid out this property makes you feel like youā€™ve completely left the real world behind. Private villas tucked into the trees, the most peaceful energy, and this incredible connection to nature that never feels forced. You walk around and itā€™s just... quiet. In the best possible way. But what really sets it apart is that the experience matches the aesthetic. The service was fantastic, the food was insanely good, and there was never a moment where I felt like the vibe was carrying something the rest of the stay couldnā€™t back up. Everything delivered šŸ‘šŸ¼ This is one of those properties that I feel like isnā€™t getting nearly enough attention on the travel scene, and honestly that might be part of what makes it so special. No crowds, no hype, just a really intentional stay that makes you not want to leave. Comporta in general is such an underrated destination and Sublime is the reason Iā€™d go back.
