Why is Maui the best island for honeymooners?
Maui is a beautiful island with stunning beaches, lush greenery, and breathtaking views. From rainforests to volcanic craters, Maui has it all. It’s no wonder that it’s a popular destination for honeymooners! Maui is also home to some of the most luxurious resorts in the world. And nothing screams romantic luxury like a 5-star Maui resort.
Best Area to Stay in Maui
The best area to stay in Maui can vary depending on what your goals are for your trip! Because the island is so diverse, choosing the best area to stay in Maui is an important part of planning. Depending on the area, you’ll find with varying amenities, weather, activities, and accessibility. For honeymooners, there are two main areas I would recommend – Wailea and Kapalua.

WAILEA
Wailea is located on the southwestern side of the island, and is the epitome of a tropical paradise. Its consistent sunshine and gentle trade winds make it ideal for sun-seeking honeymooners. Imagine starting your day with a leisurely walk along the pristine Wailea Beach, followed by a day of snorkeling in crystal-clear waters.
But Wailea is not just about sun and sand. It’s also home to world-class golf courses and high-end shopping. If you and your partner appreciate the finer things in life, you’ll find Wailea’s luxury resorts and fine dining restaurants perfect for your honeymoon.
Wailea is the best area to stay in Maui if you’re looking for sunny weather, 5-star resorts, endless restaurants, and luxury shopping!
KAPALUA
On the northwestern tip of Maui, Kapalua stands in stark contrast to the sunny Wailea. Here, the lush, green landscapes and cooler temperatures (thanks to the extra rainfall) create a tranquil and romantic ambiance, so it’s the perfect natural haven for adventure-seeking couples.
Kapalua is famous for its rugged coastline and dramatic cliffs, providing breathtaking views and intimate moments. Take a leisurely stroll along the Kapalua Coastal Trail to witness the sheer beauty of the island’s northern shore. If you and your partner enjoy hiking and exploring nature, Kapalua’s charms will undoubtedly captivate your hearts.

So where did we stay?
We chose to stay at the Andaz Maui because they checked all of the important boxes for us. With the perfect location in Wailea, ample amenities, and a luxe country club vibe, the decision was a no-brainer. Another thing we loved is that the Andaz Maui is part of the American Express Platinum Card’s Fine Hotels & Resorts Collection. I always recommend booking directly with Amex when staying at a Fine Hotels & Resort Collection. By doing this, you’ll unlock 3 additional benefits, including a free upgrade, a $100 resort credit, and free daily breakfast for two. Another bonus for us, was the fact that Amex was offering a deal for your 6th night free when we booked.
