Andaz Maui Review & Details from our Stay
If you’re planning a honeymoon in Maui or just looking for the perfect romantic Hawaiian getaway, look no further than the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort! My husband Will and I got married in April and chose to honeymoon at the Andaz Maui! We had the absolute best time and are dying to go back.

About the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort
The Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is located in the heart of Wailea and set on 15 beautiful beachfront acres with views of the West Maui Mountains and Lana’i.
Andaz properties are luxury lifestyle hotels rooted in local art and culture. I like that Andaz properties are in the medium size range (typically between 125-250 rooms), which gives them an intimate feel without feeling small or empty. They have a luxury feel with locally inspired touches that give the properties a great personality and cater to high-end culture seeking travelers.

Things to know when booking your stay:
Booking through Hyatt
Because Andaz is a part of Hyatt, booking with points is a great option to save money on your stay. The hotel is classified as a Category 8 property, so redemptions start as low as 35,000 Hyatt points.
Booking through American Express
Andaz Maui is also part of the Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts Collection. We chose to book through American Express because they had a special offer where we were able to get our 6th night for free! As a part of the Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits we also got a complimentary upgrade, free breakfast, $100 property credit, early check in, and late check out.

Andaz Maui Location
The Andaz is conveniently located in the heart of Wailea, which is the perfect part of the island for honeymooners or couples looking for a luxe stay. Here you’ll can find all of the best high end shopping, 5-star resorts, incredible beaches, multiple golf courses, and top dining.

Driving distance from Wailea to:
- Kahulini Airport (OGG) – 15 miles (20 minutes)
- Kapalua – 35 miles (50 minutes)
- Haleakala – 40 miles (1 hour)
- Hana – 60 miles (2.5 hours)
- Lahaina – 30 miles (40 minutes)
Andaz Maui Review – Accommodations
The resort is split into two main wings – East & West. For our stay, we were in the East wing. I loved being on this side of the hotel as it was a bit quieter. In the West wing, you’ll be in the heart of the lobby buzz and conveniently located to the gym and shops.
As far as room types go, the Andaz offers anything from your standard King rooms to massive four-bedroom villas. For our stay, we booked a standard resort view king. Thanks to our Amex benefits, we received a complimentary upgrade to an ocean view room!

One of my favorite parts of the room was the bathroom! There is an incredible dual head shower with shutters that open out so you can see the ocean. As an avid overpacker, I also loved the giant closet space within the bathroom.
Andaz Maui Review – Dining
There are three main dining options on property at the Andaz. Over the course of our week-long stay, we were able to enjoy all three!
Ka’ana Kitchen
Ka’ana Kitchen is open for breakfast and dinner and serves some of Maui’s best farm-to-table cuisine! I absolutely loved the open-air styled kitchen that invited you into the heart of where your meal was being prepared.
Every morning Ka’ana Kitchen is open from 6:30 to 10:30 for the BEST breakfast buffet spread I have ever seen. Before you roll your eyes at the thought of a breakfast buffet – trust me, this is not your typical fare of cold eggs, bland pastries, and all of the undesirable fruits (honeydew and cantaloupe I’m looking at you). Ka’ana Kitchen’s breakfast knocks it out of the park! One of the highlights for me was the fresh squeezed juice bar.

Morimoto Maui
The infamous Masaharu Morimoto, best known for his role as an Iron Chef, is serving up a delicious blend of Western and Japanese traditions at Morimoto Maui.
Probably Out of Office Tip: Book a patio table at sunset for incredible oceanfront views!
Feast at Mokapu Luʻau
The Feast at Mōkapu is Maui’s most exclusive luxury luʻau experience. Located on the lawn of Andaz and the shores of Mokapu Beach, this ʻohana style meal features 15 locally inspired dishes with unlimited craft cocktails!

While there are several other popular lu’au options around the island we chose the Feast at Mokapu for two main reasons. First, it was located right on property at the Andaz so we didn’t have to worry about the hassle of transportation to another resort. Second, we liked the size of this lu’au. It had an intimate feel compared to the larger production style lu’aus at other resorts.
Mokapu Market
The Mokapu Market is the perfect stop for grab and go snacks. Here you can find a host of locally made snacks, flatbreads, and prepared foods. Cool off on those hot Maui days with a selection of handcrafted soft drinks, excellent beers and a large variety of exclusive wines.

Probably Out of Office Tip: Order the Matcha! It is hands down the best Matcha I have ever had. Seriously, I went back every day to get one. I order mine lightly sweetened with almond milk.
Andaz Maui Review – Amenities
As you’d expect at a 5-star resort, the Andaz delivers on a variety of incredible amenities to enhance your stay.

Pool
The pool is undoubtedly the crown jewel at the Andaz Maui! With three stacked infinity edge pools and a larger pool at the bottom, there are plenty of options to choose from when finding a spot to lounge in the Hawaiian sun. The vibe at each pool is slightly different. As you get closer to the bottom, the water gets warmer and crowd gets more lively, with families mostly occupying the larger lower pool.
We personally enjoyed the second tier infinity pool the best. We had great views, good water temp, and quieter vibes.

Activities
Upon check-in you’ll receive a daily itinerary of the resort’s activities. They offer a host of free activities ranging from outrigger canoe excursions to sunrise yoga. We didn’t have time to take advantage of these during out stay, but I loved the variety of options to pick from!
Car Service
One of my favorite amenities offered by the Andaz that made transportation a breeze is access to their house car. The house car offers free, on-demand service to any of the nearby Wailea resorts, restaurants, and attractions. We loved taking advantage of this service for dinner each night, rather than worrying about driving ourselves!
Health & Fitness
Spa
We didn’t have time to check out the spa on our stay, but there is one on property – the`Āwili Spa and Salon in Wailea, a premium spa resort that offers a unique apothecary experience.

Gym
We hit the gym one morning when it was raining and were really pleased with how nice it was. The gym was very spacious with a variety of strength training and cardio equipment. The Andaz also offers group fitness classes twice daily.
Andaz Maui Review – Service
Pros
I think it’s the little touches that separate good from great service, and a free beverage at check-in is definitely one of those gestures that goes a long way. At check-in we were offered glasses of ice cold lavender lemonade, and it was AMAZING!

Another small touch that really elevated our stay was a small gift congratulating us on our honeymoon. We received a complimentary bottle of champagne, which we decided to save and bring home with us to pop open on our first anniversary!

The staff at the Andaz Maui was great, particularly all of the servers in Ka’ana Kitchen that served us each morning at breakfast and the valet crew that drove us to dinner each night.
Cons
We did have two service “incidents” during our stay that I think the hotel could have handled a bit better, and I wanted to share in the spirit of full transparency.
First, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night because a guest pulled the alarm on our floor. While it’s obviously outside of the hotel’s control if a misbehaving guest pulls the alarm, I do think they could have communicated better with guests during the incident about what was going on and if it was safe to return to our rooms. It also would have been nice to receive a small compensatory gift for the inconvenience of being woken up for over an hour in the middle of the night (i.e. a free coffee from the cafe or a little goodie bag of snacks). When you’re paying over $1,000 a night at a 5 star resort, you expect more in terms of service.
Second, there was an extremely rowdy group at the pool one day disturbing the other guests by jumping in the pool with their clothes on and blasting music from a personal speaker. The pool staff attempted multiple times to stop the behavior but after it went on for over 30 minutes with no progress, my husband and I had to find a hotel manager to come down and get involved. Again, this is a situation the hotel can’t prevent. However, they definitely could have done a better job putting an end to the disruptive behavior for their other guests.
